| Paul | July 17th, 2008 12:57 AM I never liked the Weedeater brand stuff. I can't tell you why, but the ones I've owned/tried before just didn't feel right to me. However the Poulan saws have won me over a little. The saw I have now is a Poulan. I used to dog on it all the time for not being a "better" brand: Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna.. etc. But after having it for several years, it's held up pretty well. Pretty well for being abused beyond it's limitations. lol The front of the owner's manual says something to the effect of, "This unit is not for commercial, industrial, or continuous use." Well, allow me to be the one to issue... CHALLANGE! I've run that thing through entire tanks of gas before, without shutting it off. Accidentally ran it dry on chain oil a few times. Ran it until the chain was too dull to cut warm butter. Seriously, the chain was so hot it was SMOKING, and the chain lube had turned BLACK. That time all it needed was a trip to Lowe's, for a new Oregon chain, (original chain had been sharpened too many times)and I was back in business. In fact I've used it commercially and continuously, so now... all I have to do is find an "industrial" use for it. :) If Poulan is who makes Craftsman's saws now, then I'd say they're a decent buy. |
