| wALT | March 18th, 2008 07:13 PM i HAVE A NEW CRAFTSMAN 12 INCH BAQND SAW WITH THE 89 1/2 INCH LONG BLADE. i REMOVED THE 1/2 BLADE AND REPLACED WITH A 1/8 BLADE TO DO SCROLL CUTS FOR SMALL WOODEN TOYS. mY PROBLEM IS THE BLADE ONLY LAST ABOUT A MONTH. i SET THE BLADE PER THE OWNERS MANUAL. i HAVE TRIED A 1/4' BLADE, BUT THAT ONE ONLY LASTED A MONTH. i MAKE ON THE AVERAGE MAYBE 20 CUTS A DAY ON 2" X 4" INCH PINE LUMBER. cOULD THE SAW SPEED BE AFFECTING THE BLADE LIFE. tHE BLADE BREAKS SO i EVEN DECREASED THE TENSION, BUT THE BLADES STILL FAIL. tHSI ODD SIZE BLADE i CAN ONLY FIND AT sEARS. dOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? |
| Joe | March 19th, 2008 08:13 AM I noticed a lot of the blades are made overseas now, whereas before they were made here.... I've broken very few saw blades on any saw over the years. |
| Adam | March 19th, 2008 11:27 AM The tighter radius work requires smaller width blades, that are naturally less robust than say... a 1/2 inch wide, skip-toothed, blade, used to do primarily resawing work. |
