| BulletBob | February 22nd, 2008 03:34 PM Hello, I am trying to decide on which plate jointer to purchase. The choices are the Sears 6.5amp Sears item# 00927730000 or the DeWalt that Sears carries. They are about the same price but I like the handle on the DeWalt better. I would appreciate any input. Thanks, |
| Joe | February 24th, 2008 04:41 AM If the Sears unit's model # starts with 900, it is MADE by Dewalt for them, so check that out. I would guess that another vendor makes the Sears unit and it's made in Taiwan or China. The Dewalt is probably made/assembled in Mexico. Not much better, but I guess the "lesser" of the two evils. |
| fritz | February 28th, 2008 12:57 PM I purchased the Craftsman joiner this past weekend ONLY becauee I had a bunch of Sears gift cards. It appears that it's the same as the Dewalt DW682, except the "D" handle on the Dewalt. Sears typically runs a tool sale in March. Suggest that you wait and see if there is sale price, otherwise it lists for $190 and I've seen the Dewalt for $145 elsewhere. I intend to modify the "knob handle" that comes with the Craftsman. |
| Gary7 | February 28th, 2008 02:37 PM Yes, as noted in next week's Sears ads/newpaper insert, around 3/2 - 3/8, next week is a big tool sale, plus other departments. Also, this week: there is an unadvertised sale of a number of random items in the lawn and garden department. Came across this by accident when I went to buy something. No newspaper ads, no store banners, no shelf tags. Various brands, but it's not consistent. From about 10 to about 25% off depending on the item. They are listed on the website, but you have to look group by group. If you read my other post on store and website pricing, this is where I found the differences. |
