| Adam | February 10th, 2008 04:56 AM I found two more chisels, a gouge and a screw starter while doing more cleaning of the work bench. I'm slowly pushing back the randomization of the workbench top (sort of like trimming away black-berries from the property) and found some more tools. Would you believe... two Carpenters', all metal, wood chisels? A 3/4 inch, chrome-plated, Craftsman and a 1-1/4 inch Crescent pair of wood chisels. I had some 100 grit sandpaper handy. So, I flattened both chisels' backs and did an introductory bevel honing job. One of the chisels was nicked (Carpenter's tool) and I also had to "hone" it out. There was a 1/4 inch, in-cannel, Buck Bros gouge on the workbench also. It's going to need my sharpening work. All I got to was putting a base square nose on the gouge (like "jointing" teeth, when sharpening a handsaw). The Irwin, wooden-handled screw starter was in almost perfect condition. It just needs to find a space in the tool cupboard, behind the workbench. After several decades of collecting and use, space is at a premium now. I also found a spare Bench Dog, that I made years... ago. I'm so proud of myself. I actually was able to throw some stuff out! Big step for an OCD inclined individual. Thank you Sears! |
