| Adam | January 23rd, 2008 11:59 PM If your fence is not "too far" out of square, you may wish to lap the cast iron fence flat yourself. I do this to tune the soles of metal bench planes from time to time. I get a large flat surface, such a a table saw's cast iron extension table or a thick sheet of glass and attach 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive paper to it, using spray adhesive. Once the twist is taken out of fence, it's just a matter of working down the grits, until the desired surface finish is reached. Look! I can see myself! Trivia: They sell 10,000 grit wet/dry abrasive paper. |
