| Adam |  Scrub PlaneJanuary 6th, 2008 04:33 AM If you'd like to duplicate some of yester-year's tool marks on some of your solid wood furniture parts (on the backs), try using an old Stanley Scrub plane. It has a very narrow sole and the thick blade, that has a curve about an 1/8 of inch deep. It does a very thorough/quick job of removing large amounts of material, leaving tool-mark troughs in the work piece. If you can't find a nice old Stanley version used plane, Lie-Nielsen sells a new version. |
