| garyp | January 5th, 2008 12:04 PM Does anyone have experience with the additional 'in-home' warranty that is offered by Sears... I am considering a purchase of a large craftsman tablesaw and the extended 'in-home' warranty BUT i have some concerns about it.... when reading the warranty, via the net, there is absolutely no mention of woodworking tools????? and since im well aware of the expression 'if it aint in writing, it aint happening', im trying to learn from others... any info will be appreciated.... |
| Joe | January 6th, 2008 10:58 AM Gary: Those tools are now made in China...watch out..... Me personally: Those "protection agreements" to me are a big waste of money. Take that money and put it in the bank. If you've bought a quality tool, you will never need it. If you are handy and fix your own stuff (as I do), that warranty money is better spent on something else. If I paid an extra $100 or so for that agreement, if you think about it, it should be three or more years before you need to use it (warranty, plus a few years). So, that money could be making money for you elesewhere in the bank, let's say. I recently bought a garage door (yet to come in from Lowes) and the salesperson asked if I wanted to have Lowes take away the old door (even though I told them I was doing the install). They want like $70 to do so. I will have that old door into a cube in about 10 minutes time with the reciprocating saw and the metal tracking in the recycling bin in 10 more minutes :). I'll save that $70 for something else ;). |
