| Randal | December 15th, 2006 08:27 AM The lowest end benchtop saw I would look at, is a 21829. But that is because my experience with benchtop saws, says they are nowhere near as accurate, with the 21829 being the exception. Now if you built something like Norm did (portable table saw station), that changed the fence, and dramatically improved it, but would cost as much as the saw. For around the same price range, you could find an older Emerson made contractor table saw, that I think you would be happier with (long term). Two other options I would SERIOUSLY look at, are: A bandsaw (not as quick, but would be better on hobby/craft projects), or a guided circular saw system (something like the Eurekazone system). The guided system only really has one disadvantadge that I see, if you cut lumber thicker then 8/4. Just throwing out ideas, to make sure you don't make the mistakes I did. OTW |
