| Adam |  Drill Press tableNovember 15th, 2006 04:29 AM November 15, 2006 Drill Press table I just finished posting in response to a concern about not locking down a drill press vise to the Drill Press table. Although I do not always feel the need to bolt down the vise. I do use clamps on the huge auxiliary wooden table that is bolted to my Drill Press's comparatively small cast-iron table. The increased coefficient of friction between the bottom of a cast-iron drill press vise and a comparatively rough wooden table really helps keep the vise rotation free. And, when drilling longer pieces of wood, the extra-width of the auxiliary table adds accuracy and clamping ease to the drilling operations. When I did my latest Drill Press demo at Sears, the first project was MAKING an auxiliary table for the Craftsman 12 inch Drill Press's stock table. Took about 5 minutes. I'm old, set in my ways, and did layout work before drilling the required holes (despite the cool Laser-targeting system built into the quill-collar). |
