| Adam | March 4th, 2006 11:24 PM March 4, 2006 Ratchet Clamps Today was the last day to get the Craftsman Professional Plier-grip, ratcheting clamps at the club discount of half off. I was mellow. I got four standard pad clamps and one "pincer" clamp. Like my grampa used to say, "You can never have enough nails or clamps doing a job." These types of clamps, unlike screw-types, do not exert so much pressure that wood fibers are damaged and glue squeezed out of the joint, to the point of being glue starved. I've got a store display that was delivered in "distressed" condition. The whole thing is a Formica, with a particle board core, wonder. I need to back out the screws, where the damage occurred, glue the fragmented laminate and particle board back flat and put the screws back, in different locations. Although the repair will not be flawless, I've been assured the side being repaired will not be directly exposed on the display floor. With luck, the display will be up and showing product within a week. |
