| Adam | January 26th, 2006 01:13 AM January 25, 2006 Bandsaw blades I've used a local saw sharpening service with great success to obtain all different sizes and circumferences of blades. They have different widths and profiles to choose from and after deciding on a particular blade, all they need is the required circumference of your blade. The charge "by-the-foot". It is very possible a local saw shop in your area does the same. All that is needed is several rolls of open length bandsaw blade material and a bandsaw blade welding machine. The machine is quite compact, with a blade cutting tool, grinding wheel and electric resistance welder, similar to a spot-welder, finished off with an annealing capability to keep the welded joint flexible. I got my experience with the welder working on a very large "Do-All" Metal Cutting bandsaw, where the blade was cut, passed through a hole in the work piece, welded, an internal profile cut out and the blade cut again to extricate the work piece. If you have no luck locally locating a bandsaw blade supplier, my source is "Valley Saw" in San Jose, CA. I hope this helps. P.S. If you're resawing, try a skip-tooth blade. |
