| jackofalltrades | October 12th, 2005 04:39 PM If you do a lot of woodworking you might look into getting a professional planer and getting your wood from a local mill. I have been woodworking for my whole life and If you go to Lowes to get lumber you will pay just about 10 times more than what you could get it at a mill. For example a 3' piece of Walnut at Menards is $45.00 you can get a 12' peice of walnut rough cut at a mill for $20.00. Just think about it |
| Adam | October 12th, 2005 07:51 PM Besides the money you can save, YOU get to choose the final thickness of milled lumber that goes into your project. This is a nice feature of the larger projects. But, on a small project, like a jewelry box, being able to make your own choice of wood thickness is pretty much a necessity to give the small project the correct proportions and scale. |
