| Resurected Randal | August 11th, 2005 10:13 AM When did Sears swap from Emerson to Ryobi? I found a 10 year old 6 1/8 inch jointer on stand for $125. It's been used 6 times before it's owner got cancer (lost a lung), now he's disabled and wants to clear out the shop. He has all the parts and says he gave around $400 for it. I need some guidance as I am still struggling with a 4 1/8 jointer (AMT), thanks. |
| Adam | August 11th, 2005 01:19 PM August 11, 2005 Model Number Check the "long" model number on the machine's data plate. The first three numbers are the OEM code. 113 was the main Emerson number. 315 or 316 are the main Ryobi numbers. |
| Randal | August 15th, 2005 12:51 AM I didn't have access to the model #. The guy that owns it, is an hour away, on oxygen and in a wheelchair. That is why I have been trying to find out, when the BIG change TO TTI, from Emerson. I explained my situation to him (lots of hour rignt now, and no help to move it when I am off) and told him I will call back to see if he still has it later. He only did a 1 day ad. |
| Adam | August 15th, 2005 04:16 AM August 15, 2005 How long with Sears I've been with the retail outlet's payroll for almost five years. Big fight on eBay for an old Sears 5 year Anniversary pin. I've been a customer for over 35 years. And, I'm a 3rd generation Sears tool (Fulton, Dunlap, Craftsman) user. |
| Joe | August 15th, 2005 07:54 PM Emerson and Sears disbanded around 1998 with the radial arm saw issue. So, if it's 10 years old, it may be an imported (or USA made) Emerson. Be careful. Be willing to make a "dry run" and get disappointed. Might be a Chinese paperweight. Could be a USA made unit. Emerson flip flopped at that time. The '89 chop saw (113 Emerson) I found pitched is a Taiwan job. On the fence about what I should do with it. |
| Adam | August 25th, 2005 10:00 PM I guess I have a piece of regretable Sears history in my old Radial Arm Saw. It is one of the model numbers that have a bounty on their heads ($100). I like it just fine. I'm keeping my solidly built RAS baby. |
