The same saw dust challenge exists for Radial Arm saws.

What has been done successfully in the past is adding on a rear chute to catch the sawdust being slung backwards.

Combined with a vacuum system attached to the furnished port, your miter saw already has, you should be picking up a much larger amount of sawdust.

There is also a stepped adaptor Sears sells that allows your 2-1/2 inch vacuum hose to fit more snugly in the miters saw's non 1-1/4 inch sawdust outlet.

You might want to look into the possibility of foregoing the 90 degree rubber elbow and attaching the vacuum hose (with adaptor) directly to the saw's shroud.

This straight-line pickup would allow you to obtain a great more suction ability than the "turning the corner" approach.

Lastly, Sears also carries a little $19.99 controller that can sense when a tool is turned on (your miter saw) and activate up to two accessories (your Shop Vac and perhaps a work light - also available through Sears).

For top accuracy from your miter saw, you would still do well with a bench brush to wipe off the table and back plate areas of your saw. And, you guessed it, Sears carries bench brushes.

I hope this has helped.
