Randal Workbench?
May 3rd, 2005 11:56 AM
Workbench, singular Adam?

I am getting ready to demolish part of an old workbench my grandfather made, today. It is all 1x's and made as a potting/painters bench, rather tall since he was taller then me. I will save the top, but as the whole thing is a lean-to right now, I need to rebuild it.

My two other current benchs are a project and a layout bench. Both are similar construction and were built 22 years apart, as one was gramps and one he had most of the parts for, when he died. He got the tops from his old work (funeral home), as they are the lids from the coffin shipping crates. I added a layer of sacrifical plywood, to the layout bench.
Had a closed school that a friend got a bunch of stuff from. I bought from him a top for my woodworking bench. would have cost me 4x as much to build it myself.
eventually a lot of these will be redone, as my kitchen remodel happens. I will use the old 1948? Sears and Roebuck metal kitchen cabinets in the shop. I'd like to put them under two of the benches.

Up one level
