I shared your concern when I was looking for a portable "light weight" table saw.

I chose the Craftsman Professional Jobsite saw for among other attributes that met my needs - it has the 3/8 by 3/4 inch miter gage slot.

The model saw you purchased is a very popular saw for advanced entry-level. I would characterize it as a "home Carpenter's saw".

It has adequate power and stability to allow basic table saw operation and makes an excellent entry into the more precise and repeatable cuts than a handheld circular saw provides.

However, it has neither the power, vibration resistance and just plain mass to function as a Cabinet or Furniture maker's saw.

It is at the forefront of this lightweight aluminum table saw design category.

With a left, right and rear extension it can simulate the greater working surface area of a larger, heavier, more expensive saw.

It also has the capability of having the rip fence put on a side extension wing. This is a tremendous design improvement over the pseudo rips fences that were integral with the right extension wing.

I'm sorry the design doesn't meet all of your expectations. But, many of these saws have been sold by me with less returns than I can count on one hand.

Even the cast-iron table saws are rated in three distinct groups of capability.
