| John | February 16th, 2005 11:03 PM I have a Molding Head model 3214 that I use in my tablesaw. I picked up a bit set #23216 that warns quite strongly to only use with RADIAL SAWS in the VERTICAL position. The package says DO NOT USE ON TABLE SAWS. What is the danger of using this in a table saw? The only scenario I can think of is the piece tipping and my hand going into the blade. Is the fear due to the height of the blade? I am only fearful of messing up my saw as I am a former cabinet maker. Any input is appreciated. |

| Adam | March 22nd, 2005 02:42 AM Are your molding head cutter bits wider than a standard table saw dado plate? Radial Arm Saws do not have any form of saw blade plates (standard, dado, zero-clearance). And.. Possibly the notation was covering itself for customers who didn't know that an optional table saw dado plate would be needed. [Don't laugh. There is now a safety note advising users of hand screwdriver AND bystanders to wear protective eyewear!] No molding head cutter is going to make it through that little 1/4 inch wide slot in the standard plate. |
