Burt Craftsman Router Model # 315.174921
February 3rd, 2005 08:41 PM
I just inherited my Dad's router which is a 315.174921. Its 20 years old but its brand new in the case. I'm wondering whether its worth keeping. I'd like to learn about using a router as I have never used one before. Will it fit the new bits and the current Craftsman portable router table? I'd appreciate some opinions. Thanks, Burt

Yep, probably American made and worth keeping. I'm sure parts and bits are available for it.

ANY tool is more valuable new in its original case. Although there is no official guide to value, the parts in that thing alone are probably worth a substantial value.

But, please keep it intact. Enjoy using it. The old timer were generally very gooood.

Is it the one with the rack and pinion depth cutting adjustment?

If so, it's platinum. I own one.

Also, "315" prefix model tools are made by Ryobi. If it's a US made one, it was made in SC in all reality.

Solid tool, good value, good folks at Ryobi. I have several of their tools badged as Sears Craftsman.

Craftsman routers are compatible with almost every model of Craftsman table made.

The standard-base (no plunge capability) models have used the same 3-hole bolt circle to hold the bases and attach the routers to accessories for decades.

This is one of the few exceptions to standards changing over time. Those three holes almost ALWAYS match.
