| Mac |  ColletNovember 6th, 2004 05:51 AM Best way to do this is to add a template guide to the bottom of your router. It is a threaded insert that screws into the bottom router plate. What you need to do is get a 1/2 in template guide attach it to your router plate. lay out your work piece any draw out what you want to cut. Then measure out 1/2 in from the lines you just made and make dash marks all the way around. Then make some build up strips about 1 1/2 in wide and 3/4 thick particle board works great for this very cheap lay out your build up strips on your dash marks so you have a 1/2 gap between your build up and what you want to cut. secure your build up strips by nialing it down, or if you can't nail it glue it down let it sit overnight.(glue sands of easy) Now simplily set your router base down on the build up strips and the template guide will make sure your at the right distance and simply follow the build up this will give you a perfect cut. |
