Coat the table-top of your table saw with car wax to make the piece of
wood slide easier.

Car wax is a good idea, but I find Paste Wax (such as Johnson's) is fast and easy and is ideal for saws and blades too!

Also wax the fence and the rail the fence rides on and if you have the patience use a q-tip to get in the miter gauge slot and do the miter gauge rail as well. Nothing like smooth no hang-up cutting.

I USE A PRODUCT CALLED TOP COAT. IT WORKS MUCH BETTER THEN USING WAX. IT COST ABOUT $10.00 FOR A SPRAY CAN. YOU CAN FIND IT IN MOST WOODWORKING CATALOGS.

Re: Waxing a Table Saw

The best thing I have ever found for protecting ANY metal item from rust is a very common item found almost everywhere, Thompsons Waterproofer (for wood). Paint it on your table saw or anything else and after it gets real sticky just rub it off and your saw will be rustproof and easier to use. This will also work on any other metal object you may want to protect. I came by this totally by accident, my old saw would rust in a couple days in the basement, I had spilled some Thompsons on it one day so I just spread it around and left it, when I next tried to use it it was real sticky. Thought I had just made another mess, but after wiping it off I found that the metal was like new and was much easier to use.

Wax works good. But I found another product that works better. Try using a silicone spray. It makes it very slick and it lasts alot longer than the wax.

Watch out using silicon spray, some woods will pick it up and stain.

I want to replace the top of my radial arm saw. Any suggestions to enhance/improve the particle board that came on it?

I read in a collection of wood-working tips about an easy and effective way to wax your saw table: use the "Instant-Shine" foam applicators for leather shoes that are available at drug stores and supermarkets. They have a good wax embedded in them and cost little.
