| Adam | August 17th, 2008 02:21 AM I'm doing a little project with my Craftsman portable table saw and have discovered some interesting things. The portable table saw sounds exactly like a circular saw - probably the universal motor. Although there is plenty of power for the projects I've used it for, so far, I can see the day when I'm going to be acquiring an induction motor powered cast-iron table saw. In the mean time, this saw can be quickly packed up and moved around the house or even up to the property to do DIY type jobs, unlike my cast-iron Craftsamn Radial Arm Saw. Unlike the miter saws, this portable table saw can RIP stock to width. One warning. If you're planning on doing beveled work, most portable table saws using either a rack and pinion adjustment mechanism or NO adjustment mechanism - short of unlocking the mechanism. Cast-iron table saws have to have their bevel angle wheel turned many... times to change the blade angle drastically. |
