| Adam | May 18th, 2007 03:32 AM May 18, 2007 Wanting Air Conditioner If any one is wanting an Air Conditioner, now be the time to visit the SELL ME area in the stores. The warehouse has a TON (easily) of brand new units. And, there are always the seasonal returns (including rentals). Would you believe? No power? GFI receptacle needed to be taken out of "test" mode and turned on. Too small? A 5000 BTU unit WILL NOT cool the house. The portable ($500) unit wont cool the whole house? Why would a portable unit be "expected" to cool that large an area? It's portable, so it can visit different rooms. Plug doesn't fit! 240 volt unit. I swear! 18000 BTU and they're looking for a 120 volt circuit that will power it. Too noisy? Oh come on! Are you hot or are you a light sleeper? I had 18 AC's in my hallway this morning. Two, actually need any service. One, needs to be retired. The rest are all going to be Sell Me's. :) Come on in! New or slightly non-new, they all be good. And, one thing that occasionally keeps an air conditioner sold is the question, "Have you tried closing the room's door, so you're not trying to cool the whole house?" The wife and I added exterior rated French Doors to the house and removed about 2/5 of the load to our air conditioner. |
| Joe | May 18th, 2007 09:25 AM Anyone still have or remember the Sears Coldspot? I have one, from 1969 in my house. It is a "106" Whirlpool made unit. It's an ICEBOX :). |
| Adam | May 22nd, 2007 12:01 AM May 21, 2007 New Fridge Sears is carrying a new kind of refrigerator. It is very light and absolutely quiet. There is no compressor or coils to complicate life. It's "thermo-electric" and 1.7 cubic feet large inside. The only moving part is a little whisper fan inside, on the back wall of the unit. The brand name is Galaxy. This is the unit for the people who want something cool next to their bed or TV, with absolutely NO noise. |
| Joe | May 22nd, 2007 01:44 PM I believe that is imported rubbish :(. Stick with a USA brand---a lot of Kenmore stuff in the refrigeration line is Frigidaire (ala Electrolux, same company as AYP that makes the Sears mowers) or Whirlpool. |
