| the Pomeroy Emporium | July 1st, 2006 08:57 AM Hello all, I have a single Craftsman Stainless 3/8" drive ratchet on ebay. It is model # 43762 and as close to new as I've seen. The item # is 230001998417 or search for Craftsman Stainless ratchet. Thank you, Karl |
| Adam | July 16th, 2006 09:32 AM Has the Craftsman 3/8 inch drive, Stainless Steel ratchet sold yet? If so, what was the winning bid amount? |
| Adam | July 16th, 2006 09:41 AM July 15, 2006 Ratchet models I have the 43765 "Lifetime" 3/8 inch ratchet and the 43763 "Stainless" ½ inch ratchet. Both are characterized by black rubber infilled handles, thin-profiles, the Craftsman socket quick-release mechanisms, and huge straight-knurled, black-oxide spinner wheels on top. Are these similar to your offering? |
| Randal | July 16th, 2006 10:22 AM I searched via the #230001998417, and it matches your description Adam. It sold for $76 and looks similar (don't have it in front of me, now) to a ratchet, we have at work, that is a Stanley made, Master Mechanic, and has a broken direction lever. I am guessing that rebuild kits are no longer available? Do you know of any levers that match? |
| Adam | July 16th, 2006 12:19 PM July 15, 2006 Ratchet Parts The previously posted "Stainless Steel" Craftsman ratchets are a complete genetic oddity to the other ratchets in the Craftsman Mechanics' tools line. Too bad really. They appear to be solid, well built tools. But, without rebuild kits or any volume of returns (for parts) these tools are probably going to be display tools, more than day to day user tools. One of my favorite style of ratchets is the round-head/fine-teeth ratchets. I've got my old ones. And, since they're still sold NEW in the catalog or over the Internet, other people can get these beauties, too. I even have the long handled, flex-head, round-head, fine-tooth 3/8 (old) and ½ (new) inch ratchets. Now, if they only made a stubby pattern. I could cut the handle down! Which would be a tool modification, voiding the lifetime warranty. However, it's not like Sears has seen hardly any of their tools back from me. And, a reduction in handle length is not going to "stress" the ratchet mechanism. They're like the Energizer bunny. They just keep going and going. |
