You need to post the model # from the unit. It will likely start with "358" as most Sears trimmers are made for them by Poulan/Electrolux. You might find a "315" model #, which is Ryobi.

Post the model # you find on the unit itself. I'll tell you who made it for Sears and where to call for an owner's manual. Most of the Sears vendors send them free of charge if you know what to ask for.

You can also look up your parts on Sears.com's parts (Sears.com and then parts). You'll need that model # from the unit itself.

The line that is used in most string trimmers Sears sells can be bought anywhere. The machine itself will usually say what diameter/type line they want (.065, .060, etc). You can buy it on a spool in Home Depot or anywhere it's on sale cheap. My friend sent me a HUGE spool of various types of line for my stuff--will last me a lifetime :).

Post more information and I'll be able to figure it out...

There are a few manufacturers who don't like standards. But if you have even a small piece of the old, you should be able to match up the diameter, and the shape. The color, is semi-standardized (see above). As for how much line you need, better too little, the too much. Too much and it will constantly bind.
