| Charlie | January 3rd, 2006 08:32 PM I acquired a Craftsman Model 149.236223 4 1/8" Jointer/Planer, today, which did not have the fence or the product manual with it. Does anyone have either of these items for sale or know if or where they can be purchased. Thanks for any help. |
| Randal "dead guy" | January 4th, 2006 10:50 AM The picture is still wrong on the website, but you can still buy blades for this at your local Sears, that's it! It was produced by AMT who made great woodworking equipment, then someone wanted their production capabilities, and bought them, dumpstering all the manuals and woodworking info, also loosing Sears as a customer. Whole, these average $60+ on ebay, in parts, very little. If it works, you would have to come up with your own fence. |
| Joe | January 11th, 2006 09:38 PM Old Woodworking Machines (google it), might have the manual. |
| Chuck | January 29th, 2006 09:14 AM I have that same model of 4 1/2" Craftsman jointer/planer that I used until last week as I just bought a new Craftsman 6 1/2" model last week. Would be interested in selling mine. Don't have a manual as I bought mine use and have used it for about 6-8 months. I just needed a larger one. It works fine. I thought that I found on the internet that Chicago Pneumatic made an identical model or what looked to me like the exact model (I thought they problably made it for Sears!) but I cannot find now it as I was going to include a link for you to it. Does Sears Parts sell the manuals? I know they do not sell the parts as I needed a knob and they did not have it. You might also check ebay, also. Email me if you are interested in mine. I was planning to put in in the paper or on Ebay in the near future. I live in the St. Louis Area. You can't be all bad if you are named Charlie! |
| Charlie | February 14th, 2006 08:28 AM Chuck, thanks for the response and sorry it has taken so long to answer. I have searched and requested a manual from several locations without success. Finally purchased an older model Craftsman 6 1/8" Jointer/Planer. Will just keep an eye out for an inoperative 4 1/8" Jointer for parts. Thnaks again for the response. |
| Joe | February 14th, 2006 12:47 PM In the case of an obsolete vendor, Sears typically doesn't have the parts. In this case, unless someone picked up a contract for AMT parts and Sears feels that they want them, they will do that. I know some of the mower blades, belts and other common items appear to be superseded from the original part #s shown in the parts lists to more "generic" stuff. I'm sure on many of the parts, where available, Oregon and Stens are supplying things like blades, carb kits and what not, if the OEM doesn't have it available anymore. You have to remember that many Sears vendors have been taken over since they made whatever product from Sears: Examples: 536 was Western Tool, then AMF, then Noma, now Murray 580 was Generac, now Briggs and Stratton. etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. |
