| papadave | October 23rd, 2005 02:44 PM I was given a 10" contractors belt driven table saw. I am looking for blade inserts for a dado cutter. I have looked in sears parts, but they do not list anything. Any ideas where I can look? |
| Joe | October 24th, 2005 12:09 PM Yes, Emerson tool company. They made that unit for Sears. First step: Contact them and get the original owner's manual (or a copy). Usually, in the back, they had the stock #s for any accessories for the saw. Try to call Emerson and see if you can find them through an Emerson distributor. A belt drive saw like that if USA made is a good find.... |
| Randal | October 25th, 2005 11:58 AM I normally find them online, the old Emerson saws you can normally find them listed as Craftsman/Ridgid. Woodcraft had some of the most common Craftsman size, and blanks, so you could make your own (then why would you want blanks). You'll find more blanks then predone dado inserts, as people tend to cut and make their own to whatever size dado they are making. |
| Joe | October 25th, 2005 12:18 PM Yea, that's because the line that Emerson was selling to Sears has been transformed into the Ridgid they sell at Home Depot :). Except that when it was made for Sears, it was US made. Now it's China :(. |
| Randal | October 25th, 2005 03:40 PM When Ridgid was bought/moved it's manufacturing overseas, that's when the color change happened from Grey to orange and grey. I don't know if the 3650 was ever grey, or if that was just the previous model. A friend of mine had the grey, they sold it to him and it HAD a lifetime warranty. He never got to test that theory as his shop was broken into, and they stole 90% of everything. Eventually recovered 30%. |
| PM2790 | October 25th, 2005 04:05 PM The current inserts should fit. The stock numbers are: 29991 for 7" diameter dado sets and 22290 for 8" sets. Take your regular insert along to the store to compare size. The new ones will have at slot at the rear for the updated blade guard/kerf keeper. I believe your saw was one of the Exacti-cut models. It will have a yellow plastic insert in the table forward of the blade. The inserts mentioned above should fit. |
