| Concerned tool guy | January 24th, 2005 04:17 PM This is what I am looking for. But this one is not a Craftsman, but you get the point. http://www.geocities.com/toolguy104b/Search_tool.html |
| Joe | January 25th, 2005 01:13 PM Unique tool. Have you checked with KD on that? They likely "made" it for Sears (by virtue of taking over a company that did). |
| Adam | February 12th, 2005 01:03 AM Wow! That's quite a unique wrench. I've never run across one. But, now that I've seen it, I'll keep an eye out it. Thank-you for posting the graphic link. A customer came in wanting a pulsating power auger. I thought I was going to go out of my mind until I used the search feature of the Sears.com sight. I'm primarily a wood worker. An auger bit to me is something that you drill wood with and fits into a bit brace tool. Apparently plumbers call the tool used to snake into a pipe an "auger" also. It's a $29.99 tool sold one isle away from my remote cash register and stocking station. You learn new things every day working retail. |
| Rob | February 12th, 2005 12:02 PM I have the wrench you are talking about. Mine is a Craftsman. Has 8 different sizes, they're know as a multisocket or multiwrench. My Dad has always bought JH Williams brand tools and I found him a Williams 8 way "multisocket" wrench for Christmas. Pretty cool. |
| Joe | February 12th, 2005 08:09 PM Williams is now Snap On. Their stuff was always good quality, US made stuff. |

| Adam | February 12th, 2005 09:55 PM I've got some old Williams tools. They've always seemed different than many other tool makers (including SnapOn) in their tool's crisp line and satin finish chrome as opposed to the shiny "tumble" finished other brands. |
| Rob | February 13th, 2005 11:40 AM Williams makes real nice industrial grade tools. My grandfather and my dad have always swore by them. I've always been the Craftsman guy with a few Snap On tools. Until recently my dad's Williams combination wrenches went up to 1-1/4". I came across a local old time Williams dealer who had a lot of late 70's and early 80's vintage Williams NOS items, which are the vintage of most of my Dad's Williams tools, which makes it even better for a matching set. The dealer hasn't sold Williams for nearly 25 years due to downsizing of his business. Needless to say my Dad and I did some shopping! My Dad now has Williams wrenches up to 2-1/4" and these wrenches are HUGE! His Williams 3/4" drive sockets are up to 2-3/8". The dealer even had a Williams rollaway tool chest and top from 1977, brand new in the box, which we took as well!! The last price list he had was from 1980 and he stuck by it, giving us an additional 25% off for a cash transaction. It doesn't get much better than that, especially since Williams prices have more than doubled in the last 25 years. If only I could find an old Craftsman dealer and get the same deal, lol. |
| Joe | February 14th, 2005 12:21 PM Rob: What a deal!!!! I've bought automotive parts like that... |
| Adam | February 24th, 2005 02:16 AM There's a mint condition dog bone wrench being sold on E-bay NOW. The sale ends Feb 24th. The current bid is $26.00. There's also a fair condition dog bone wrench that is currently running $7.99. Good hunting. |
