| Joe | August 14th, 2008 11:45 AM When you posted the other day, I tried it and it worked :). |
| Paul | August 16th, 2008 10:59 PM Well, I'm a big dummy. Finally got frustrated with not being able to use the web site, and called my sister (who works with these silly machines) to see if it could still be something on my end. Turns out, you have to clear something out (history, or cookies or somethin') more than once a decade. LOL Sorry, Sears! :) |
| Joe | August 17th, 2008 02:30 PM I knew it was something to do with your connection and/or PC :) |
| Adam | August 20th, 2008 11:03 PM I don't think the phrase, "Made in USA" has NEAR the appeal in Canada, as it does HERE in the US of A. It might even be a detractor... As for me, I got Arkansas honing stones. They're "made" in Arkansas - USA. In fact, the only place the "novaculite" is quarried is out of special vains in the Arkansas Ou****a mountains. That's where the first coarseness of Arkansas stone, Wa****a, was taken from - confused interpretation of the mountain range's name. LOL! There's Wa****a, Soft Arkansas, Hard Arkansas, Black-hard Arkansas and a newly discovered (relatively) Translucent variety of Arkansas stones. Course! I got'm ALL. It ain't good, if it ain't sharp. And, Surgeons use the Black-hard stones to "whet" their surgical instruments. Hopefully, using water as the lubricating fluid. I use oil on my stones. |
| Adam | August 20th, 2008 11:07 PM I found another auto-censored word! Wash -i- ta There are no more con****uous occurences of Wa****a stone, in the Ou****a mountains. The quarrying people need to dig ****her into the mountain to get more honing stones. |
| Paul | August 21st, 2008 12:02 AM Actually, Adam, I've read posts on some other boards about made in USA Craftsman tools having appeal outside the US. Seen a Canadian poster who said he drove down to Michigan to the nearest American Sears to buy his Craftsman MTS, since most of the ones at his local Sears were crappy Taiwan versions. While I can appreciate that... MAN, even if he lives close to the border, the check stop makes that a helluva long trip! lol Not too bad if your buying a whole MTS, but not really worth it to swap out a socket or screwdriver... |
| Adam | August 21st, 2008 12:59 AM Someone traded in a couple a Canadian Craftsman screwdrivers, a few years ago. I remember thinking the tools looked a little "different" than the other returns. |
| Joe | August 21st, 2008 10:48 AM You'd think with the size of the contract that Danaher must have with Sears that they would have operations there...also is probably cheaper than the US. If the item can't be made in the US, to me Canada is a very close and acceptable second. I have seen some pretty good items come from there. |
