Adam Want paint removal
June 12th, 2008 12:18 PM
In the on going saga of making the warehouse Pristinier, they want all the spilled paint off of the concrete floor.

This would be a more doable request if the former PAINT storage hallways were not included on the list.

We're talking about two and three foot diameter, THICK spills here.

Any one have some experience with massive paint removal?

If only we could power up that 3800 PSI Pressure Washer deal.

But, its the middle of the building and a gasoline engine unit.

The floor scraper just bounces off the mess.

Air impact hammer?

Great news!

Someone left a container of Zip Strip, paint remover in the Hazardous Material storage area.

I found out something fascintating, during the training.

If you USE the stuff... it ain't hazardous material no more.

Brilliant!

I can USE them cans of WD-40, some Goo Gone, metal primer and now - Zip Strip.

There aren't enough to do the entire hallways.

But, there's enough to "try" a test spot in the hallway.

I use the semi paste...works pretty well.

Paint stripping is a messy deal, that's for sure :).

Adam Blow Torch

I wonder if a Propane blow torch would do a good job?

Not one of those pencil tipped flame jobs.

Adam has a weed burning 1 inch tipped blow torch deal.

I envision a 3 person job.

A torcher, applying the flame.

Followed by a scraper tool bearer.

Backed up with a person holding a fire extinguisher, "at the ready".

Could probably do BOTH hallways in under two hours.
